95 454 oil cooler lines
« on: March 05, 2012, 08:25:54 AM »
I have one thats leaking. Can these be removed and pluged?I like the idea of the cooler,I just hate to have it down while I get some made.None of the parts stores around here list anything.I got some from advanced and autozone, but they were not right.
Its not a bad leak yet, just ticks me off cause the rest of the engine is dry.
Any thoughts would be great.

Can you post a picture of the one leaking?  I parted out a couple of 3500HD's (& other GM trucks)..and now have some oil lines in my barn.

Not sure if I can get a good pic of it. The one that goes into the top of the radiator is leaking at the crimp. The metal line  is almost a foot long then turns 90 into the rad.The lower one is leaking where it screws into the rad.Might just be a O ring, but its tough to tell cause the upper is leaking onto the lower.

In my research for a 6.5 build I learned about a source for braided lines and new oil coolers at; http://www.lubricationspecialist.com/gm-6.5td/6.6l-diesel/

Does anyone know if there's a source for braided lines for the 7.4 ? ...or if the lines that they offer will fit or can be adapted to a 7.4 ?

I hate to put the fate of my engines on crimped aluminum lines.  I'd also feel better with an oil cooler that doesn't share the radiator.
