I was wondering if anyone has used a program if so what would u recommend..... I have a 98 3500HD with the 7.4l and Im going to be using it to tow a really heavy mud truck and would like all the power I can get thanks

Those handheld programmers generally aren't worth a damn; if you want real gains you'll want to talk with someone that will custom tune your PCM.  Blackbear, Wester's Garage, Nelson's, etc. there are many to choose from but I haven't used any of them so I can't recommend one over another.

Be sure whoever you talk with understands your truck is a 3500HD and what that means, as I'm not 100% sure but I believe the original 7.4's used in the HD's are slightly lower compression than ones used in lighter trucks.
