Title: dana 80 fluid level
Post by: remingtongoose77 on March 07, 2018, 08:14:14 PM
hello all,

I am putting my truck back together, and since I bought it and took it apart I have no real life experience with it, I have many questions.

when you are servicing the rear gear, do you fill to the plug level on the cover? I machined a billet spacer that is 2.5" thick. This puts the  stock cover off the differential face 2.5 inches to allow more fluid and i thought the factory fill was flush to the pipe plug in the stock cover.

Any thoughts?

thanks men,

LW

I'm sure at the plug level is the logical fill position...that's what I have always done.  On my S10 daily driver I installed a cover plug at the same height as the 3rd member fill plug...just easier to fill.
