Title: '99 HD MPG FYI
Post by: RPF207 on September 16, 2015, 09:25:27 AM
Figured I'd post some hopefully useful info for anyone wondering about the fuel economy for an HD with a 6.5 5 speed. Mine is 45,000 original miles 1999 Chevy HD 135.5" RC 6.5 5 speed with 5.13's out back. Lately I've been getting 16 MPG around town and 15 MPG highway. MAX highway speed is 70 for me. You could push it more but it starts singing a different tune after 70 so I keep it at that. These MPG's are for my truck unloaded. It's just a 9.5' flat bed that doesn't weigh much. Hope this is useful!

That's helpful info (nice MPG)...wonder how a gas engine would compare. Suspect loaded and unloaded would be a major factor.

a 6.5L 5speed 2wd can flat get some MPG, and that is why I love them. :) RPF207, got any pics of the beast?

Yeah, but it's half apart right now getting a front axle. I'll post some when it's done
